These structures reveal a lot about the celebration and commemoration of the people and the sparkling fortitude of the ordeal. However, in today’s time, some of these grand havelis are being converted into royal hotels offering you a luxury feel.

Here are the top Monuments and Havelis in Udaipur to visit –

  • Bagore Ki Haveli

One of the most popular haveli to visit in Udaipur, Bagore Ki Haveli, stands majestically on Lake Pichola’s waterfront at Gangaur Ghat. Built in the 18th century by Amar Chand Badwa, the then Prime Minister of Mewar kingdom, Bagore Ki Haveli has been repaired and restored over the period of time. Today, it is converted into a museum.

  • Maharana Pratap Memorial

Maharana Pratap is one of the greatest warriors in Indian history. He ruled Udaipur for about 27 years, from 1572 to 1597. The most glorious battle he fought was the Battle of Haldighati. Thus, Maharana Pratap Memorial is built to honor his courage and valor. On your visit, you will see a life-size bronze statue of Maharana and Chetak, his loyal horse.

  • City Palace Udaipur

The largest palace complex in Rajasthan, City Palace Udaipur, is one of the best monuments in Udaipur. Set on the banks of Lake Pichola, the palace is an architectural wonder with many buildings inside like Bhim Vilas and Amar Vilas. City Palace was commissioned to be built during the reign of Maharana Udai Singh II. And after him, the construction was taken over by his successors for over 400 years. Thus, this palace is of great significance.

  • Lake Palace Udaipur

With 65 rooms and 18 grand suites, Taj Lake Palace is one of the must-visit monuments and havelis in Udaipur. This is a heritage hotel with a 24-hour fitness center, shopping arcade, games room, and a business center. The rooms at Lake Palace are adorned with carved wooden furniture and plush silk fabrics. Stay at this palace hotel for a memorable time in Udaipur.

  • Jag Mandir Palace

Among the most magnificent places in Udaipur is Jag Mandir Palace. It seems like a floating marble structure, making it a sight to behold. It is located on an island called Jag Island, and this palace is commonly known as ‘Lake Garden Palace’. It was constructed over a period of time by three Maharanas of the Sisodia Rajputs of Mewar. Jag Mandir was started in 1551 by Maharana Amar Singh and was taken over by his son Maharana Karan Singh between 1620 to 1628. Finally, Maharana Jagat Singh I completed it between 1628 to 1652 and hence, the name Jagat Mandir.

  • Amet Haveli

Maharana Jagat Singh built Amet Haveli in 1734. This 250-year-old haveli is evidence of Mewar’s golden period. The haveli is ornamented with extensive stonework. The 20 plush rooms in Amet Haveli have private plunge pools and high-tech amenities and offer fantastic views of Jagdish Temple or Gangaur Ghat. The haveli also has Ambrai Restaurant, which serves delectable Indian and Continental cuisines with lakeside alfresco dining.
