Birla temple also known as Laxmi Narayan temple is yet another religious site in Jaipur is dedicated to Lord Vishnu and Goddess Laxmi. Unlike other ancient Hindu temples, it features modern architecture. Built by the Birla family, this temple is renowned for its intricate carvings and delicate artwork. As you enter, you’ll see a large marble panel depicting mythological scenes. The temple highlights a single stone-carved idol of the deity Laxmi Narayan and other important Hindu idols.

History of Birla Temple

Jaipur’s Birla Mandir was built on land gifted to the country’s renowned Birla family by a Maharaja for just INR 1. Construction of the temple began in 1977 and finished in 1988. However, it was consecrated on February 22, 1985. Currently, Birla Mandir is open to visitors of all castes and creeds.

Architecture of Birla Temple

It is constructed from white marble and displays modern architecture. Temples have four distinct parts: sanctums, towers, main halls, and entrances. Several Hindu deities are depicted inside – notably Lakshmi, Narayan, and Ganesh. Other figures can also be seen on its exterior, such as Christ, the Virgin Mary, St. Peter, Buddha, Confucius, and Socrates.
