The Parusrampuria Haveli Nawalgarh is one of the best havelis in the Nawalgarh area and boasts of some of the best instances of haveli frescos to be seen in the entire Shekhawati region.

The beautiful havelis of Shekhawati are indeed fascinating and have proved to be a major tourist appeal. Striking architecture, vibrant and colorful interiors and massive parapets of the havelis stand witness to the wealth and prosperity of the Marwari merchants. Adorned with exquisite murals and frescos, and delicately carved and latticed casement windows, these havelis are indeed a sight not only to behold, but to marvel at. Almost every Haveli is decorated with magnificent mirror work and paintings sometimes done even with gold or silver leaf, depending upon the affordability and wealth of the owner of the Haveli.

During the old days, these wooden carvings and gold and silver paintings were assumed to be symbolical of the owner’s status and wealth. However, many of these havelis have been transformed into heritage hotels after the Independence. The increasing maintenance cost and the trend among the businessmen to migrate to places with better business opportunities, led to this. Some of the havelis in Shekhawati have recently also been opened for public viewing, for an entry fee.
