Significance

India has a rich spiritual legacy, and many religions are practised. Due to this, a large number of religious festivals are celebrated. These festivals come with fairs. Either the premises of the temples or open areas near the temples get converted to fairgrounds and bustle with activity. The Kailash Fair in Agra is celebrated in honour of Lord Shiva. According to popular legend, Lord Shiva appeared here as a stone lingam in Kailash. Since then, devotees have worshipped Stone lingam, which is believed to be a manifestation of Lord Shiva. One temple here is called Kailash, where you can offer Datura flowers, milk, and sweets. The temple is generally open between 6 AM and 9 PM. Devotees can attend morning and evening aartis. The atmosphere is lively, and large crowds gather with joy on this occasion. Several shops are set up, and seeing people in this state of happiness is a true visual delight.
