Temples of Agra

Mankameshwar Temple

Mankameshwar Temple is one of the oldest temples, believed to be around 5000 years old. The temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and houses an idol of the deity. It gets heavily crowded for festivals like Maha Shivaratri, Navratri, Dussehra, and Diwali.

Location:  Daresi Road, Rawatpara, near Agra Fort Railway Station Sheb Bazaar, Mandola.

Mangaleshwar Temple

Mangaleshwar Temple is one of the city’s oldest temples and is dedicated to Lord Shiva. Its carvings and architecture depict scenes from Hindu mythology. The temple complex also has smaller shrines for other deities, including Goddess Ganga, Saraswati, Gayatri, Hanuman, Narasimha, Krishna, and many more.

Location: Mangleshwar Talab, Gokul Pura Road, Raja ki Mandi.

Bageshwarnath Temple

Bageshwarnath temple, dedicated to Lord Shiva, attracts many tourists. Visiting this temple elevates the experience with a combination of history and spirituality. The temple hosts all Hindu festivals and embodies decorations. However, during Shivratri, it is adorned with bright, colourful lights, providing a visually stunning experience.

Location:  Ramratan Road in the northern part of Agra.

Balkeshwar Mahadev Mandir

This is another historic temple in Agra, around 700 years old. It is dedicated to Lord Shiva and attracts many devotees, especially on Mondays and during the Savaan (mid-July to late August).

Samadh Soamiji Maharaj

It is also known as Radha Swami Samadhi and primarily serves as the mausoleum of Huzur Swamiji Maharaj. It is a unique holy site because its architectural patterns draw from diverse religious temple art forms.

ISKCON Temple Agra (Jagannath Temple)

Masjid in Agra

Masjids are an integral part of Islamic culture and reflect the grandeur of Mughal architecture. However, some Masjid also have influences from the Persian style. Some of the famous Masjid in Agra are;

Jama Masjid

Jama Masjid is one of the most sought-after holy places, with detailed carvings, inscriptions, and colourful tiles. It is one of the largest and oldest in India and was once connected to Agra Fort.

Moti Masjid

Built with white marble and red sandstone, this 17th-century mosque is a part of Agra Fort, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is well-known for its detailed craftwork that proofs of Mughal brilliance art.

Nagina Masjid

This mosque is also inside the Agra Fort complex. It exhibits Mughal architecture and a serene atmosphere. Its balcony offers a splendid view of Meena Bazaar.

Meena Masjid

This is another Mosque of the Agra Fort that Shah Jahan built for his personal use.  It has detailed carving with a touch of royalty features. Visitors offer prayer, stroll, and experience serenity around this mosque.

Gurudwara in Agra

Agra is secular, and its Gurudwara proves it with great historical significance and beautiful architecture. So here is the foremost Gurudwara of Agra that you can visit on your tour. 

Guru Ka Taal Gurudwara 

Experience serenity while strolling through the lush green garden of this Gurudwara. This historical Sikh pilgrimage site was initially built as a Tal (reservoir) in 1605 but later converted into a Gurudwara in 1970.

Akbar Church
