One of Wayanad’s tourist attractions of Wayanad, Pookode Lake, is a lovely freshwater lake around 15 km from Kalpetta town. Sandwiched between the Western Ghats and lush forests, the lake is 40 m deep and spreads over 13 acres. The scenic beauty and the peaceful environment are natural charmers. The dense forest surrounding the lake is famous among nature lovers and photographers. The lake is the originating point of the Panamaram stream, one of the main tributaries of River Kabini.

Pookode Lake boasts a shape that looks like the map of India. Spot several freshwater fish and blue-colored lotus flowers. The sight of blue water lilies dotting the lake’s water looks beautiful. Sometimes, animals can also be seen on the banks of the lake due to its proximity to the lake.

Tourists can enjoy boating on Pookode Lake. Pedal boats are available for rent. While enjoying boating, treat your eyes to the verdant scenery. The children’s park, freshwater aquarium, and a shopping center selling spices and handicrafts are close to the lake.
