Idukki Arch Dam

The Idukki Arch Dam, located on the Periyar River, is a marvel. The magnificent arch dam is Asia’s first and the world’s second such architectural marvel. The hydroelectricity-producing giant is being constructed across the Kuravan and Kurathi Hills. The Arch Dam, 550 feet high and 650 feet wide, lies close to the Cheruthoni barrage. It is a picturesque place surrounded by lush vegetation and home to abundant wildlife.
