Renuka Lake is situated in the Sirmaur district of Himachal Pradesh and is considered the largest natural lake reservoir in Himachal Pradesh. With a circumference of 1214 meters, this lake is named after the deity Renuka, who happens to be Prashuram’s mother in Hindu folklore mythology.

Renuka Lake takes the shape of a reclining woman. Pilgrims from all parts of India gather to light lamps in the holy water of the lake. A smaller lake lies at the foot of the main lake. An alpine valley bounds the lake on all sides.

A quaint temple dedicated to Renuka lies some distance away from Renuka Lake. This ancient temple is believed to be a specimen of the eighteenth century. Every year in November, an annual fair is held with pomp and gaiety. If you are adventurous, you can always try out boating on the lake. A mini zoo and a lion sanctuary are situated close to Renuka Lake.

Accommodations are available in Dadahu (2 km from Renuka Lake). You can reach Renuka Lake through Parwanoo, which lies at a distance of 120 kilometers from the destination.
