Here is everything you must know about Kalimpong Science Centre. Kalimpong Science Centre was established in 2008 under the Darjeeling Gorkha Hill Council (DGHC). This Science Centre is developed by the National Council of Science Centres in association with the Government of India and the Ministry of Culture. Its inauguration was held on 2nd October 2008 by the Honorable Administrator of Darjeeling Gorkha Hill Council, IAS – Shri B.L Meena. The Science Centre is sprawling over an area of 7 acres and unleashes the scientific temper in the society – particularly teenagers with a nose for Science, equipment, and technology. Note: Kalimpong Science Centre remains closed every Monday. March-May, September – November By Air: Bagdogra Airport is the nearest airport to reach Kalimpong Science Centre. It is 86 km (approx.) from Kalimpong and could be reached in 3-4 hours (approx.) of travel time. Afterward, take a private/shared cab to reach the Kalimpong Science Centre. By Train: The nearest railhead is New Jalpaiguri Railway Station. It is 78 km (approx from Kalimpong Science Centre and could be reached in 2-3 hours (approx.) of travel time. Upon reaching, shared/private taxi options are available. By Road: Kalimpong hill town is well connected with nearby hilly cities.
