Also known as Samba Kovli, Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception Cathedral is the Cathedral Mother Church. In 1689 Jesuit Father visited French Colony of Pondicherry and decided to establish a church beside the French Fort. With the financial help of the King of France, the plan was executed. Slowly and steadily, more churches were built and then this Cathedral was put into construction. This is amongst the oldest and topmost attraction of Pondicherry/ Puducherry, which was also visited by Mother Teresa.
