Perched at an altitude of 4522 meters, Tso Moriri Lake Ladakh is the largest high-altitude lake in India. It is located in the Southeast Leh region, and the route to this lake is mostly in good condition. This lake is one of the most famous lakes to visit on the Leh Ladakh tour. It is fed by snow melts and springs from the vicinity. Two significant streams pour into the lake, one from the north and the other from the southwest.
This lake is also known as the Mountain Lake of India; this is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful lake in Leh Ladakh. It is about 28 km long (stretching from north to south) and 4 to 6 km broad. Barren and snow-clad peaks in the surrounding forms an enchanting panorama.
But this lake is inaccessible through public transport, and you would need a permit to enter the lake area. For the license, you would need two photocopies of the main pages of your passport and visa. The permit is valid for seven days. So it would be ideal to keep at least six copies of the license as you would be presenting it at different checkpoints.
