Legend has it that Ram and Sita, the hero and heroine of the famous epic Ramayana spent 11 of their 14 years in exile in Chitrakoot. Both of them also visited the banks of the River Mandakini and this is how this place came to be associated with them.

The nearest airport is Khajuraho. It is located at a distance of 175 km. Chitrakoot is the nearest railway station and it is well connected to the other towns of Madhya Pradesh like Chitrakoot Dham, Mahoba, Jhansi and Satna. There are plenty of buses that are available from these towns as well. You can avail of them.
