Parks and Gardens in Ooty

Ooty is carpeted with flourishing greenery and this town is festooned with colorful flowers as well. The Government Botanical Garden is a perfect place to savor the beauty of nature. This garden was laid in 1848 and sprawls over an area of 22 hectares.

As you descend from Dodabetta Peak, the highest point of Nilgiri Hills, you will reach this garden. There are five sections the garden has been divided into; Lower Garden, New Garden, Italian Garden, Conservatory and Nurseries. Expansive collection of flower species and The Flower Show make it one of the best places to visit in Ooty. Another refreshing garden in Ooty is Rose Garden, also known as Jayalalitha Rose Garden.

It is located on the slopes of the Elk Hill and has more than twenty thousand varieties of roses; like miniature roses, ramblers and hybrid tea roses. Sim’s Park has floral terrace, lawns and rockeries with flowers, trees, shrubs, climbers from different parts of the world.
