One of the most popular tourist places in Tamil Nadu, the charming hill station of Ooty is frequented by a large number of tourists all around the year. There are numerous options for eating out in Ooty. The various restaurants in and around Ooty mostly offer South Indian food, but some of these serve North Indian dishes too.

Do make it a point to try out Ooty’s famous buns, varkis, cakes, and other baked items, as well as fruit andnut chocolates.

While eating out in Ooty, if you want to treat your taste buds to some mouth-watering Chinese/Indo-Chinese food, you can head for restaurants such as Wang’s Kitchen or the reasonably-priced Shinkow’s Chinese Restaurant, located on Commissioner’s Road and specializing in everything from wok-tossed noodle dishes to a variety of hearty meat-based specialties.

Munch on Western food such as pizza, delicious breads, snacks and baked goods from food joints like Hot Breads at Charing Cross. The Sidewalk Cafe on Commercial Road is a well-known fast food joint, where you can relish some of the all-time favorites like American-style burgers or Italian-inspired pizzas, or if you are looking for something lighter, simply go for one of the soups and salads.

If you are strapped for cash, then the best option for eating out in Ooty will be the buffet lunch offered every Sunday at the Sullivan Court Hotel, Selbourne Road. Some of the vegetarian eateries on Main Bazaar and Commercial Road also offer food at very cheap rates.

The two vegetarian restaurants at Hotel Nahar and the snack bar serve appetizing food. The economically priced ‘thalis’ (dishes) at Nilgiri Woodlands are good value for money. Some of the other places offering good meals are Tandoori Mahal in Commercial Rd, Savoy Hotel and Hotel Dasaprakash.
