Bhadra Maruti Temple is one of the important places of worship in Khuldabad, Aurangabad. It is dedicated to Lord Hanuman and is visited by devotees and tourists. The Lord’s idol inside the temple is Lord Hanuman in a sleeping posture. It is one of the three temples where the idol of Lord Hanuman is found in a sleeping posture; the other two temples are located in Allahabad and Madhya Pradesh. Every year, the holy site is visited by several Hanuman devotees from across the country, mainly during Ram Navmi and Hanuman Jayanti.

Bhadra Maruti Temple legend

Legends say that, in ancient times, Khuldabad was renowned for being Bhadravati and was ruled by a ruler named Bhadrasana, a strong devotee of Lord Ram. Once, when Bhadrasena was lost in singing the bhajans of Lord Ram, Lord Hanuman arrived at his place and listened to his songs. Lord Hanuman was so happy that he silently took a sleeping pose—a yogic posture called Bhavya Samadhi. When Bhadrasena saw the Lord in a resting posture, he asked him to bless the site with his presence.

Owing to such beliefs, the place is highly pious for both Lord Rama and Lord Hanuman devotees. The temple is built with white marble. Though the Bhadra Maruti temple is open all days, special rituals are performed on Saturdays. En route to this sacred shrine, you may also visit the major attractions of Maharashtra, including the tomb of Aurangazeb, Ellora Caves, and Grishneshwar temple. Khuldabad is just 32 km away from Aurangabad. So come and offer sincere prayers in the temple and get the blessings of Lord Hanuman.
