The Someshwar beach in Mangalore is one the beautiful beaches in Karnataka along its 320-km coastline. Located in Ullal at the confluence of the Netravati River and the Arabian Sea, it one among the popular places to visit in Mangalore.

Known for the large rocks called ‘Rudra Shile’, it is a relaxing beach. Enjoy the breathtaking views of the Arabian Sea, magical sunsets, swimming, sunbathing. The beach is not a popular name among tourists, therefore left in a pristine condition. The endless golden sands are blissful.

The attraction of the Somnath beach is the historical Somanath Temple. It was constructed during the rule of the famous Queen Abbakka Devi in the 16th century. The presiding deity here is Lord Shiva. The temple is adorned with beautiful sculptures and a statue of great sage Parusharama.

For more fun and beautiful views, climb the Ottinene hillock. The lookout has a grand view of the Netravati River meandering its way to the sea through mangroves. This hillock has lush vegetation. A number of medicinal plants grow naturally here. Trek to the top and relax.

The tourist facilities at the beach are practically non- existent. Tourists visiting the beach are advised to carry drinking water and food as there are no shops.
