Daman poses itself as the mesmerizing tourist destination which is visited by tourist all around the world. The currency being used in Daman is same as the one used in the rest of India. One Indian Rupee consists of 100 paisa. However as of 2011 only 50-paise coins are legal tender. The Banknotes are available in the following denomination of 5, 10, 20, 50, 100, 500, 1000 and Rupee coins are in the denomination of Rs 1, Rs 2, Rs 5, Rs 10, RS 100 and Rs 1000. But the Rs 100 and Rs 1000 are used for commemorative purposes only while the 50 paisa, since lower denominations have been formally withdrawn.
The international travelers are not permitted to take Indian currency out of India nor purchase it overseas. For the travelling convenience the tourists should change some currency at the airport or the State Bank of India. For the travelers comfort the money exchange services are also made available at various resorts and hotels by the private money exchange counters. India features a well knit network of all reputed international banks like ICICI, HDFC, HSBC, Standard Chartered, ABN AMRO, RBS etc comes up with ATMs that accept all the international cards.
