Anand Prabhu Kudi Vihar, Mahasamund is the most famous amongst all Sirpur’s Buddhist vihars. The historical and picturesque city of Mahasamund is a municipality in the Mahasamund District. The Mahasamund District possesses a tribal population of 28.9%. History:

Anand Prabhu Kudi Vihar, Chhattisgarh was constructed by a follower of Buddha named Bhikshu Anand Prabhu. Anand Prabhu Kudi Vihar, Mahasamund was constructed during the period of Mahashivgupt Balarjun.

Description:

Anand Prabhu Kudi Vihar, Mahasamund is a fourteen room Buddhist vihar. The main entrance of Anand Prabhu Kudi Vihar is adorned and beautified by a dwarpaal (doorkeeper) carved in stone pillars. There are two dwarpaals on either side of the entrance. The inside of the vihar displays a six feet tall statue of Buddha touching the earth. The fourteen rooms in the vihar are exquisitely and elegantly decorated. Anand Prabhu Kudi Vihar is a huge crowd puller and attracts thousands of tourists from all over the world and from all across India.
