Chidiya Tapu known as the bird island, is located 25 km from Port Blair in the archipelago of Andaman Islands. This is one of the most beautiful tourist attractions in Andaman. Chidiya Tapu is a small village with lush green mangroves, and forest bestowed with numerous birds. It is one it an ideal picnic spot. At sunset the island is undoubtedly magical.

Chidiya Tapu is loved by nature lovers as well as adventure enthusiasts. The island is well known for its rich collection of birds, vibrant butterflies, white spotted deer and orchids. Among birds, the island is inhabited by around 46 species of birds namely, drongos, scarlet Minivet, hanging parrot, long-tailed and red-breasted parakeets, emerald dove, white-bellied sea eagles and grey-fronted and green pigeons to name a few. It is a one of most beautiful bird-watching sites in India.

Andaman’s lesser known secret, Chidiya Tapu is blessed with green landscape, beaches and variety of corals. Do not miss the pleasure of watching the sun set in the horizon. The main attractions here include the soft golden shores, Chidiya Tapu Biological Park, Chidiya Tapu Beach, and the Munda Pahar beaches. There is a forest guest house located atop the hillock that offers a panoramic view of the entire village as well as islands beyond.

The water near these islands is alive with multi-color corals. It is an excellent site for snorkeling. Incidentally, Chidiya Tapu Beach offers a variety of sea shells. It is in fact the major contributor to shell craft industry. Some of the crafts made from shells include table lamps, ashtrays, bangles, decorative boxes and show pieces.
