Periyar is essentially a tiger reserve that is located in Kerala, India’s Western Ghats, in the Idukki District. The reserve’s surface is undulating, and its drainage system is dendritic. A ridge that also serves as the 90 km-long border between Kerala and Tamil Nadu marks the reserve’s north-eastern border. This tourist destination’s tiger reserve and national park are well-known worldwide. It is the most well-known wildlife refuge in South India and is located on the lovely Periyar Lake.

The height affects the temperature in this well-known sanctuary, which varies from 15 °C in December and January to 31 °C in April and May.

Between 2000 and 3000 mm of precipitation fall annually. The southwest monsoon, which lasts from June through September, brings around two thirds of the annual precipitation. Between October and December, the northeast monsoon brings less rain than usual.
