One of the most beautiful shrines and a perfect place to enjoy some serene moments is the Belur Math. Located on the right bank of River Hoogly, the temple is just a few minutes’ drive from Kolkata. The Belur Math shrine itself indicates the wonderful blend of Hindu, Christian and Islamic religion. The shrine was founded by Swami Vivekananda who was the great follower of Ramakrishna Paramhamsa. Thousands of people from all parts of the globe come and pay a visit to the temple every year.

Ramakrishna Temple

With ultimate styles of constructions, the Ramakrishna temple resembles a temple, a mosque, a church from different directions/positions. The temple represents the Universal faith and symbolizes the great Indian religions. You can also see the white marble statue of Sri Ramakrishna which is put-up on a lotus with hundred petals with a Damaru base (two headed drum). Come and unravel the mystery behind the temple; which depicts the importance of religions through architecture.

Swami Vivekananda Temple

The Swami Vivekananda Temple stands on the spot where Swami Vivekananda’s mortal remains were cremated in 1902.

Ramakrishna Museum

The Ramakrishna Museum is home to some of the objects used by Ramakrishna, Sarad Devi and Swami Vivekananda. It is a great place for history lovers.
