One of the finest beaches in India, Harihareshwar is a picturesque tourist destination nestled on the Konkan coast in Maharashtra. Also known as Dakshin Kashi, Harihareshwar is home to an ancient temple dedicated to Lord Shiva. The destination is quite renowned for its serenity and immaculate beach. As far as history is concerned, the city is related to the great emperor Shivaji Raje Bhosale and the First Bajirao Peshawa who visited the holy place in 1723. The sculptures in the temples, including Harihareshwar Temple Konkan depict the stories from the Hindu epics – Ramayana and Mahabharata. There is a hill known as Harihar located in proximity to the Harihareshwar Beach, which encloses the natural beauty in its full glow. Some prominent attractions of this beach include Harihareshwar Beach, Kalabhairav Temple, Ganesh Gully and Bagmandala.

Harihareshwar Beach

One of the major attractions in Harihareshwar, Harihareshwar Beach is a perfect place to stay close to nature during holidays. Balmy winds and soft clean sands make this beach a much sought after place in Harihareshwar. The unspoilt beauty of this beach beckons tourists from far-off places. Another major attraction on this beach is the famous Harihar Hill.

Kalabhairav Temple

One of the ancient and renowned temples in Mumbai, Kalabhairav Temple enshrines Lord Shiva as their main deity. Kalabhairav, the lord of all Manthrasastras, is also positioned among the idols. Legend has it that Lord Shiva created Kalabhairav and blessed him with all the Manthras. The Yogeshwari Temple, also known as Dakshin Kashi, is located within the premises of Kalabhairav Temple. 

Ganesh Gully

As the name suggests itself, Ganesh Gully is a narrow lane which is located between two hard Rocky Mountains. At the end of this cesspool, there is a gap where Lord Ganesha idol is placed. The gap is about 30 feet underwater and it is assumed that during the tidal periods one can see the Ganesha idol is perfectly positioned at the gap. 

Bagmandala

Bagmandala is a small village located just few miles away from the holy city of Harihareshwar. This is the place where the Prime Minister (Peshawa) of the famous Maratha kingdom lived for many years. The glorious heritage of Peshawa is manifested in a Peshawa Smarak and in Bankot Fort.
