A quaint village in the Raigad district of Maharashtra, Diveagar is a beach town located on the Konkan Coast in Maharashtra. The town is quite famous for its exquisite beaches, blue waters and hidden golden treasures. The coastal line of this town is dotted with coconut and betel nut trees. If you are looking forward to spend some quite moments on a pristine beach, Diveagar Beach is the place for you. The main festivals celebrated in Diveagar are Ganesh Chaturthi and Janmashtami. Besides, there are several structures of religious importance in Diveagar such as the Ganesha Temple.

Diveagar Beach

One of the major attractions in Diveagar, Diveagar Beach is surrounded by beautiful coastal lines. The beach has a fishing settlement on one end and sanctuary housing migratory seagulls on the other end. The beach contains many species of Suru trees, also known as Casuarinas. Also, one can see Dolphins at the Harihareshwar Beach, located nearby.  

Bankot Fort

Also known as Himmat Garh, which is now in ruins, Bankot Fort is situated at a distance of 4 kilometers away from the beach. The region is believed to be the home of the Peshwas of the Maratha kingdom. Square in shape, the fort was named by Pliny The Great, a famous Greek Scientist. The fort features a Ganjanan Temple, dedicated to Lord Ganesha. There is a graveyard at the outer region of the fort, which is marked with vertical pillars and marble inscriptions.

Phansad Wildlife Sanctuary

Spread over an area of 53 square kilometers, Phansad Wildlife Sanctuary is home to a wide variety of flora and fauna species. It is used to be the hunting place for the Siddhi Nawab of the Janjira state. Animals found in this wildlife sanctuary include Sambhar, Panther and Barking Deer. Besides, there are around 148 species of birds in this sanctuary.

Lord Suvarnaganesha Temple

Dedicated to Lord Ganesha, The Lord Suvarnaganesha Temple houses the 300 year old idol of Lord Ganesha. The sculpture is made up of pure 24 carat gold, which is 1.3 kg in weight and 60 centimeters tall. It is believed that the sculpture was installed in place of the old stone idol of Lord Ganesha.
