Attractions in Bordi
Asavli Dam
Constructed on a green lake, the Asavli dam is encircled by mountains on one side and waste weir field on the other. A major highlight of the dam is that it was built manually. The dam has a spot from where tourists can enjoy an amazing view of the Bahrot caves. Enjoy a leisure walk, absorbing the serenity spread all around.
Bahrot Caves
Bahrot caves are in the Bahrot Mountains, which are about 1500 feet high. These caves are known as the site brave Zarathosti ancestors had hid themselves from the Muslim attackers, way back in 1351 AD. These people hid here for a span of 13 years. The Zarathosti took ‘Iranshah Flame’ to Bahrot, which is burning even today.
Dahanu Fort
One of the most popular tourist attractions of Bordi, Dahanu fort has now been converted into a jail. Before India got freedom, it was under the British rule and today it is an administrative centre. Before the British, the fort was captured by Chimaji Rao Appa, a Maratha ruler in 1739 but was taken over by the British under the ‘Treaty of Bassein’.
Depchari Dam and Reservoir
The Depchari Reservoir is a huge lake on which Depchari Dam is built. This dam is even bigger than the Asavli dam. The serenity that is spread all around this relatively secluded dam is a major crowd puller. This reservoir is probably one of the biggest lakes in Bordi. Savor the greenery and the serenity around the dam.
Bordi Beach
One of the best beaches, Bordi Beach is a safe beach if you wish to partake in swimming because of its calm sea waters. The beach stretch from Dhanau to Bordi is an extremely beautiful one. Fruit orchards in the background make the shoreline all the more beautiful. The sand of this unspoiled and serene beach is black in color and is slightly sticky.
Kalpataru Botanical Gardens
Just 10 km away from Bordi, the Kalpataru Botanical Garden is situated in Umergoan. The lush, well-maintained and well-manicured garden houses a great collection of trees. The well-known Vrindavan studio where most of the part of Ramayana was shot is also here. Monsoon season is the best time to visit this garden when the greenery is in full view.
Mallinath Jain Tirth Kosbad Temple
Placed in the Prabha Devi area, the Mallinath Jain Tirth Kosbad Temple is a religious site that is dedicated to one of the 24 Tirthankaras or prophets of Jainism. The sayings of Lord Mahavir are the basis of the Jain religion. He was the 24th prophet while the first was Lord Rishabh.
