Auden’s Col is named after a British Geographical Survey officer, John Bicknell Auden. He discovered this mountain pass in 1935 and crossed it in 1939. Auden’s Col is a high-altitude mountain pass located at an altitude of 5,490 m above sea level. This mountain pass connects the Rudragaira Valley and Bhilangana Valley. The trek to Auden’s Col is considered among the most dangerous of all the treks of the Garhwal Himalayas. It takes you through some dangerous cliffs and ways that are stony and snaky. As the trek is perilous, it is only suitable for experienced trekkers.

The Auden’s Col Trek takes you through deep moraines, beautiful meadows, thick alpine forests, gushing streams, and numerous villages. During this journey, trekkers can enjoy the spectacular view of the snow-capped peaks like Rudragaira, Jogin, Bhagirathi, and Kedar Dome.

This trek also covers the visit to major pilgrim sites like Kedarnath and Gangotri. It offers the much-required thrill and rejuvenation. The base camp of the Auden;s Col Trek is Gangotri, which is the source of the River Ganges. Auden’s Col forms a bridge between the northwest ridge of Gangotri III and Jogin I. This is amongst the most difficult treks of Garhwal Himalayas, due to which it is a less explored path. Auden’s Col Trek in Uttarakhand is a dream trek for almost all mountaineers and trekkers.
