Itinerary Detail

Day 1: Arrival Guwahati

Pick up from Guwahati Airport and transfer to a pre-booked hotel. After you freshen up, proceed to visit Kamakhya Temple – Kamakhya Devalaya, the famous Hindu temple dedicated to the mother goddess Kamakhya and is one of the oldest of the 51 Shakti Pithas.

Afternoon you can enjoy a river cruise on the mighty Brahmaputra river. Evening free for shopping in the local market as your own. The city has four major shopping centers, i.e., Pan Bazaar, Paltan Bazaar, Fancy Bazaar, and Uzan Bazaar. You can buy tea leaves, handicrafts, Assam Silk, Singing Bowls, and Traditional Assamese jewelry. Overnight stay at the hotel.

Day 02: Guwahati – Shillong (100 Kms./3 Hrs.)

Post breakfast, check-out from the hotel and proceed to Shillong, enroute visit Umiam Lake, where you can enjoy some delicious momos with the scenic beauty of the lake. On arrival, check-in to the hotel. After you’ve freshened up, proceed for a local sightseeing tour of Shillong, covering Don Bosco Museum, Lady Hydari Park, and Ward’s lake. In the evening, explore the famous market of Shillong, Police Bazar, which has unique traditional handicraft stores, exquisite Meghalaya merchandise, regional apparel, junk jewelry, and the like. Overnight stay at the hotel.

Day 03: Shillong – Cherrapunji

Post breakfast in the morning hit the road to Cherrapunji, the heaviest rainfall destination in the world, enroute visit Elephant Falls and Shillong Peak. On arrival at Cherrapunji, visit Noh-ka-Likai Falls, Mawsmai Cave, Don Bosco Shrine, Wah Kaba Falls, Kynrem Falls, Arwah Cave, and other caves in and around Cherrapunji.

Day 04: Cherrapunji – Mawlynnong – Shillong

After breakfast, proceed for a day excursion to Mawlynnong, the cleanest village in Asia. Visit Jingmaham Living Root Bridge, Mawlynnong Village. After that, head for the must-visit Dawki – a small border town in the Jaintia Hills, along with its famed river Umngot. Enjoy a relaxing boat ride.

After that, leave for Shillong. On arrival, check-in to the hotel for an overnight stay.

Day 05: Shillong – Kaziranga (275 Kms./6 Hrs.)

Post Breakfast, check-out from the hotel, and leave for some sightseeing in Shillong to cover the city’s famous locations. Following that, leave for Kaziranga. Kaziranga National Park is one of the most visited places in Assam, famed for one-horned rhinoceros and is also home to a vast number of wildlife like tiger, wild buffalo, gaur, leopard, stag, deer, hog, and wild boar along with a large number of beautiful migratory birds.

On arrival, check-in at the hotel. The rest of the day is free for leisure. Overnight stay at the hotel.

Day 06: In Kaziranga National Park

Early in the morning, proceed for an elephant safari (timings – 5.30 AM to 6.30 AM) in the western range of the national park. Enjoy the songs of the birds and the smell of the wildflowers that will make it even more mesmerizing. The main attractions of this wildlife park include One-horned Rhinoceros, tiger, wild buffalo, elephant, variety of deer, python, and a variety of migratory birds. Return for refreshments.

After breakfast, you can visit the nearby local village to see their way of life & livelihood, Tea Garden, and Orchid Sanctuary. Some of the famous Tea Gardens are Methoni, Hathkhuli, Difalu, Borchapori, and Behora.

After lunch, again proceed to the park for yet another round of wildlife safari by jeep. Evening free at leisure. Overnight stay in a hotel.

Day 07: Kaziranga – Majuli

Post breakfast, check-out from the hotel, and leave for Nimati Ghat to take a ferry for Majuli, the world’s biggest river island and settlement of Vaishnavite monasteries. To reach this island, you need to cross the Brahmaputra on a ferry. After reaching this island, explore the natural setting of the place, and enjoy a leisurely walk. Overnight stay at the hotel.

Day 08: Majuli – Jorhat

After breakfast, visit the Kamalabari Satra and Auniati Satra, which are major centers of Vaishnavite culture. Visit to these places would be conducted in the morning.

Here you can enjoy the natural beauty and explore in and around this region. Explore the mysteries of Majuli, and learn about the lost art of Mask making, which is used for “Bhaona” play, which depicts stories from Hindu mythology. Spend the latter part of the day at Majuli with the local people learning about their traditional arts and crafts.

In the afternoon, leave Majuli for Jorhat, and stay overnight at a pre-booked hotel.

Day 09: Jorhat – Kohima

Post breakfast, check-out from the hotel and leave for Kohima. On arrival, check-in to the hotel. The rest of the day is free at leisure. Overnight stay at the hotel.

Day 10: Kohima – Khonoma – Kohima

Post breakfast, drive to Khonoma. Khonoma is known for its past heritage of fighting and warfare. Nestled among green hills, the village is famous for its conversational ventures and was awarded the title of the first green village of the country.

In the evening, return back to Kohima. Overnight stay at the hotel.

Day 11: Kohima

Post breakfast, proceed for a local sightseeing tour of Kohima, covering popular locations like Kohima Museum, Cathedral Church, and Kohima War Cemetery. The cemetery has been constructed in memory of soldiers who were killed during the Second World War. It was built by the Japanese force who had invaded the place.

The evening is free for shopping in the local market. The main products to eye for are woven bamboo, tribal shawls, jewelry, beadwork, and also fashionable clothes. Handloom items are also an attraction of Kohima markets.

Day 12: Kohima – Dimapur

Post breakfast, check-out from the hotel and transfer to Dimapur Airport to take the flight for your onward destination.
