Itinerary Detail
On arrival at Leh airport, meet our representative who will arrange a smooth transfer to one of our listed hotels. Check-in at the hotel. Spend the rest of the day relaxing and acclimatizing to the high altitude of Ladakh. Acclimatization at high altitude places is important for eliminating the chances of any form of altitude sickness. In the evening take a leisurely walk to explore the nearby area of Leh. Dinner and overnight stay at the hotel.
In the morning after breakfast, proceed to visit the Shey monastery and the Shey Palace featuring a massive Buddha statue. Later in the day take a guided tour to major tourist attractions of Leh covering Hall of Fame, Leh Palace, Stok Palace, Stok Museum and the Pathar Sahib Gurdwara. After lunch head to explore Thiksey Monastery. It is one of the largest monasteries and features an interesting architecture to impress all its visitors. In the evening return to the hotel for dinner and overnight stay.
Early morning after breakfast, proceed to visit the Stakna Gompa. Located 25 Kms from Leh, the gompa is famous for its splendid architecture. The Stakna Gompa is built on a 60 m high isolated rock. The major attraction of the monastery is an enchanting marble statue of Avalokitesvara. The monastery also features a museum showcasing an interesting collection of arms and armory. After the visit return to Leh and prepare for trekking in Ladakh. In the evening meet the other trek members. Enjoy dinner and overnight stay in the hotel.
After breakfast, drive towards Hemis to visit the Hemis monastery. The Hemis monastery is among the wealthiest monasteries in India. The monastery is famous for its rich collection of ancient remnants like the statue of Buddha made of copper, and the stupas made of gold and silver. Later in the day start trekking to Shang Sumdo. We will cross the Martselang bridge and then we ascent up the valley along the river which is fairly narrow. Finally reaching Shang Sumdo explore the place for its alluring beauty. Stay the night in Shang Sumdo.
After you start you trek from Shang Sumdo to Latza Kongmaru, switch to the path along the slope leading through a red rock, descending to the riverbeds. The track will later lead to gorges, meandering up into the pass. After your trek is over at Latza Kongmanu, relax and prepare for dinner and overnight stay.
Next morning after breakfast, start the trekking to Langthang Chu River. Follow the steep slope to the Kongmaru-la pass. On reaching the pass, witness the mesmerizing view of the northern face of Kang Yatse Peak. Now descend to Nimaling, a beautiful valley in Ladakh. At Nimaling, pass the ridge and descend down to the beautiful valley. On the way cross river and follow rocky slope to reach Kongo Ngonpo. Finally take a very steep route along the Langthang Chu River.
After the brekfast we trek to Zalung Karpo La from Langthang Chu. After crossing the large stream and taking moraine wall, trek further to the point where the valley divides. From the point the valley divides, take the right hand valley to reach the top of the Zalung Karpo La. Now descend to reach a ridge close to the second pass and follow a steep rocky slope admiring the beautiful valley curves slightly to the left. Reach Zalung Karpo La by evening and stay the night in camps.
Today in the morning start descending towards the main stream. Flow the broad trench with large stones to reach the valley in right and leading towards Ruberunga-la. Now follow the left bank and a beautiful gorge and crossing the stream several times to reach Tilat sumdo along a rocky route.
After breakfast, we cross Chang-chu to reach a narrow valley. Then after trekking for two hour, we pass a canyon on the right bank. Trek further to reach the third valley where the valley narrows making it easier to cross the stream. Head towards a small steep slope after which the path becomes harder. Now to reach the broad valley, take the canyon on the right while passing a small comb. Finally follow the stream which leads to the left bank onto a flat land above a trench.
In the morning, you will go to the stream and enter several impressive gorges where the horses have to be unsaddled several times. After the third narrowing, leave the stream, which flows towards the left, and go up a gentle slope. From the pass, there will be a dizzy descent into the fallen rocks. Go towards the left and cross a canyon. Walk on along the stream as far as the junction with a large river which comes from the left. Enjoy an overnight stay in the camp in Zangla-Sumdo.
On this day as we move down along the river, valley opens up further. Cross the valley on the right side when it turns on the right side. Trek the right side to ascent to Zangla castle. Trek for another half an hour to reach the village of Zangla.
In the morning after breakfast, leave for Mulbekh. The Mulbekh monastery is famous for its 30 ft long limestone sculpture of Maitreya Buddha. On reaching Mulbekh, check-in at one of our listed camps. After resting for a while proceed to visit the Mulbekh monastery along with its two gompas: Drukpa and the Gelugpa gompa. In the evening return to the camps for dinner and overnight stay.
Early morning after breakfast, drive back to Leh. On reaching Leh check-in at one of our listed hotels. Spend the day at leisure. In the evening enjoy dinner and overnight stay at the hotel.
In the morning after breakfast, transfer to Leh airport to board a flight to Delhi. On reaching Delhi airport board a connecting flight for onward journey.
