Kawardha located at an altitude of 1000 meters is a picturesque town set in the periphery of the Maikal Ranges. It is located on the south eastern side of the Kanha National Park which is the largest wildlife reserve in India. It is also characterized by the tribal population which in itself is dominated by the Gond and the Baiga tribes living in forest. Other major tourist attractions in Kawardha are Saroda Reservoir, temples of Shiva Bhoramdeo belonging to 11th century A.D.,The underground rooms of the famous Radha Krishna Temple and Sahaspur Wildlife Sanctuary.
