Placed just at a distance of just 17 km from Coonoor in Kotagiri, Catherine Falls are stunning waterfalls lying amidst thick pine forests and aromatic tea estates. The route leading to the falls is an extremely enchanting one. Gushing down from an altitude 250 feet, these waterfalls are also known as St. Catherine Falls. Climb up to the Dolphin’s Nose viewpoint to get the best view of these falls while enjoying the cool breeze coming from the Nilgiri Hills. The falls flowing down, finally landing down in a pool.
Locally known as Geddhehaada Halla, these falls have been named after the spouse of Kotagiri’s popular coffee planter, M.D. Cocburn. Catherine waterfalls are equally popular amongst local and tourist picnickers. Though the falls can be visited during any time of the day but early morning hours are the best for mesmerizing views. This double-cascade fall is the second highest in the Nilgiri hills.
