Talagram is a small village in Chhattisgarh about 30 kilometers from Bilaspur. It is also known as Ameri-kapa gram. Located on the banks of River Maniyari, this village came into limelight with its excavations dating back to the 5th century. The architectural splendors unearthed in the area registered it on the tourist map. A picturesque treasure known as Deorani-Jethani Temple was discovered. A divine idol of Lord Shiva is one unique treasure in this excavation. Known as Rudra Shiv, the idol is in excellent condition. The 6th century idol is the only one known of its kind in the world. The amazing statue with a height of 7 ft and width of 4 ft presently makes home in the temple. It weighs about 8 tons. The Rudra Shiva idol is an artistic assembly of different animals and insects and has many human faces on its body. People round the globe come to view this statue more than the temple. Many areas of the temple complex lies in utter devastation but their grandeur still shines through.

November to February is the best time to visit to visit. The village enjoys pleasant weather in these months. Talagram faces harsh summers. Monsoons dampen the sightseeing activities. Winters is a good time to visit.
