A picturesque hill station located within Kasargod district of Kerala state, Ranipuram is majorly known for its trekking trails through its cool climate and deep woods. Also called the Ooty of Kerala, the hill station lies at the height of 750 m (2,460 ft) above sea level.
Earlier known as “Maadathumala,” Ranipuram ‘s trekking spot starts from the guest houses in the valley at the base of the Ranipuram hills. There are two scenic routes to opt from there.
The trekking trail passes through the untouched forest, varied vegetation, evergreen shola woods, monsoon forests and grasslands. Wild elephants can be seen wandering on the top of the mountains. To reach the beautiful hill locale, jeep services to Ranipuram are readily available from Panathady, which is linked to Kanhangad by frequent bus services.
