Puri enjoys a significant position as a pilgrimage center for the Hindus. Each year Puri is visited by a large number of devotees with a major inflow registered during the Ratha Yatra or the Chariot Festival. A number of highly revered temples coupled with the lure of the beach, makes Puri one of the sought after tourist destinations. Before planning a Tour to Puri, it is advisable that you get to know all about traveling to Puri.

By Air

The aerial route is the least troublesome way of reaching Puri. Puri does not have its own airport. The nearest airport to Puri is located in Bhubaneshwar. It will hardly take you 3 to 4 hours to reach Puri from the Bhubaneshwar Airport. The Indian Airlines flights connect Bhubaneshwar to places like Hyderabad, Mumbai, Delhi, Calcutta and Chennai.

By Rail

Bhubaneshwar falls on the Calcutta-Chennai line and most of the trains stop here. If you plan to travel to Puri from Calcutta, the Coromandel Express is the most viable option for you. You can also board the Puri bound train that leaves from the Howrah station.

By Road

You can also choose to travel to Puri by road. A commendable network of roads connects Puri to almost all the major towns and cities within the state as well as the neighboring states. The most cost effective way of reaching Puri from Bhubaneshwar is by boarding the Canter minibuses that leaves right from the center of the town. However if you prefer comfort to cost, then it is advisable that you hop onto an express bus to Puri.
