Inaugurated on 24th December 2002, Delhi Metro is the latest addition in Delhi Transport System. Operated by the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation Limited (DMRC), Delhi Metro is the second rapid transit system in India, first been in Kolkata. Traveling in Metro is both comfortable and time saving.
It’s the Delhi Metro that has introduced for the first time in India, ticketing and passenger control through a completely Automatic Fare Collection System. Fit for the pocket, Metro fares ranges from Rupees 6 to 14. As far as the Metro timings are considered, Delhi Metro runs on a stretch from 6.00 AM in the morning till 10.00 PM. Every 6 to 8 minutes a metro arrives on the various stations.
Presently Delhi Metro has three operating lines with many been under construction. Line 1 is connects Shahdara to Rithala, whereas Line 2 links Vishwa Vidyalaya with Central Secretariat and lastly Line 3 commutes between Indraprastha, Barakhamba Road and Dwarka. Apart from these three lines many are under construction. Pragati Maidan, Connaught Place, Tilak Nagar, Janakpuri, Dwarka Sub City, Kirti Nagar, Patel Nagar, Shadipur, Karol Bagh, Rajendra Place, Rajouri Garden, Mandi House and Tagore Garden are some of the stations covered by Delhi Metro.
