Further, you can hire a cab or take a bus to travel to Lachung. Going from Gangtok to Lachung is the most convenient way to travel. You can stay the night at Gangtok and leave for Lachung by car the following day. A 4-hour drive from Gangtok will take you to Lachung. Lachung By Train
The nearest train station to Lachung is the New Jalpaiguri railway station, around 120 km from Gangtok. The railway station connects many cities like Darjeeling, Kolkata, and Delhi. From the railway station, reach Gangtok by bus or taxi, and after a night stay, leave for Lachung. A bus or a taxi is the best way to travel as the Gangtok to Lachung distance is around 110 km. It will take 4 to 5 hours to reach Lachung.
Lachung By Road
Several buses, taxis, and jeeps are available to travel to Lachung from different parts of Sikkim. Gangtok(110 km), Darjeeling (168 km), Bagdogra (194 km), Jalpaiguri (225 km), and Mangan (51 km) are directly connected to the town via scheduled buses. Travel to Gangtok first and stay the night there. The next day, take a bus or car to reach Lachung, which will take 4 hours. You also need an Inner Line Permit to visit Lachung. A ride through the mountain roads will not be the best, but the views are breathtaking.
