How to Reach Varkala

A quaint little township in the south Indian state of Kerala, Varkala lies 55 km to the north of Thiruvananthapuram – the state capital. Varkala By Air

Although Varkala does not have an airport of its own, the nearest airport to reach Varkala is at Trivandrum, at a distance of about 55 km. Trivandrum, being the capital of Kerala, the international airport here is connected by an excellent air network to major cities like New Delhi, Mumbai, Goa, Chennai, Kochin and Kolkata. Indian Airlines and Jet Airways operate numerous domestic flights to and from Trivandrum.

Varkala By Rail

A number of International Airlines operate regular flights from Trivandrum to Colombo, Gulf countries, Singapore and Maldives. The railway station at Varkala is well-connected by regular trains with Trivandrum and some major places in India. Trivandrum has good rail connections with all major places in the country.

Varkala By Road

Varkala is located just 47 km from the National Highway No: 47. A decent network of roadways connects Varkala to Trivandrum. Trivandrum in turn is well-connected by roads with all major cities in South India. Varkala is about an hour’s drive from Trivandrum and to reach Varkala by road one can get down at Kallambalam and thereafter avail auto-rickshaws or local buses.
