Situated on the slope of the Hemakuta hill in the city of Hampi, the Kadalekalu Ganesha temple is a perfect example of the Vijayanagar style of architecture. The prime attraction of the beautiful temple is the statue of Ganesha which is one of the largest in southern India. Interesting fact about the idol of Ganesha is its name.

As the belly of the statue resembles a Bengal gram, which is called Kadalekalu in the local language, the statue is named as per it. Apart from the statue, the interiors of the temple are worth appreciating and righty one of the popular tourist places in Hampi. The temple boasts of tall and slender granite pillars which are decorated with various mythological characters.

Being situated on the slope of a hill, one is likely to  get mesmerized by the amazing view of the surroundings. Even from the inside of the Ganesha temple, a full view of the Hampi Bazaar and Matanga hill can be seen.
