How to reach Gulmarg

The most convenient way to reach Gulmarg is by road. Direct buses are available from Delhi and cities in Himachal Pradesh. You can choose government buses or go for private deluxe and luxury buses to reach Gulmarg. Unfortunately, there is no connectivity to Gulmarg by air and railway, so one must first come to Srinagar Airport and take a taxi to Gulmarg. And by train, the route gets even longer. The nearest railway station is in Jammu, which takes about 7 hours to reach by bus.

Gulmarg By Flight

If you wish to travel to Gulmarg via flight, you can take the next flight to Srinagar Airport, around 58 km from the hill station. Srinagar airport in the capital city of Jammu & Kashmir regularly attends flights from the major cities of India.

Gulmarg By Train

The nearest railway station to Gulmarg is at Jammu (Jammu Tawi), which links various cities of India to the state. As you arrive at the Jammu Railway station, you can board state buses/taxis, which run to the different parts of the state, including Gulmarg.

Gulmarg By Road

Frequent bus services connect the towns and cities of Jammu & Kashmir. Through state-owned or private tourist deluxe luxury buses, the road trip to Gulmarg is also a fast way to reach Gulmarg. One can also hire taxis or cabs to the hill station as per his comfort requirement.

How to reach Gulmarg from Srinagar

Taking a bus is the best way to reach Gulmarg from Srinagar. The distance between both places is approx. 51 km and will take around 2 hours to arrive. You can take local buses from Srinagar to Tangmarg market and hire mini-coaches and jeeps to Gulmarg. Unfortunately, there are no AC buses on this route, and only JKSRTC and TRC buses are available.

You can also choose to drive from Srinagar to Gulmarg. Since the distance is short, can efficiently plan road trips. But if you plan to visit Gulmarg in winter, enquire about road conditions first.

How to reach Gulmarg from Sonmarg

You can either take a bus or drive to Gulmarg from Sonamarg. Regular road transport buses are available on this route, making your trip budget-friendly. Gulmarg is approx. 125 km away from Sonamarg, and the time will be around 4 hours.

How to reach Gulmarg from Delhi

Delhi to Gulmarg by Flight :  You can fly from Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi to Sheikh Ul Alam International Airport in Srinagar. The time will depend on the airline you choose, like SpiceJet, Indigo, and Air India. Regular flights are available between Delhi and Srinagar. From Srinagar, you can hire a bus or taxi to reach Gulmarg, depending upon your budget.

Delhi to Gulmarg by Train:  There is no railway station in Gulmarg, and the nearest ones are Jammu Tawi (305 km) and Udhampur Railway Station (235 km). Direct trains operate from Delhi to these two railway stations from where you can book buses or taxis to Gulmarg.

NH 44 connects Delhi to Gulmarg and has many places of interest and restaurants to keep you entertained and filled. Remember, this route is quite long, so you must break the journey into two to three parts (if you are on a road trip) and continue your drive to Gulmarg.
