About Ulun Danu Temple

Located in Bedugul, on the western shore of Lake Bratan, the Ulun Danu Beratan Temple is a stunning landmark and a revered religious site. The floating temple complex is surrounded by emerald mountains, creating a magical scene. Although no physical evidence supports this claim, local artisans who made daggers for kings and their armies are said to have built the shrines in myth. The temple complex comprises not one but nine different shrines, eight of which are devoted to Hindu gods and one to a Buddhist stupa.

Lord Shiva is the main god at the Penataran Agung Temple, Dewi Durga is the presiding deity at the Prajapati shrine, Rudra, Durga, and Mani Murda are the presiding deities at the Dalem Purwa, and Lord Vishu is the presiding deity at the Pura Meru Tumpang. Each shrine is divided into layers and constructed to resemble a Buddhist temple. The tallest of them all, with 11 tiers, is the Pura Meru Tumang.

The Bedugul Temple in Bali has a few temples that are accessible only by boat because they are situated on small islands. Transportation to and from the temples is provided by traditional boats and motorboats. To extend one's stay, one can also take a boat tour of the lake outside the temple compound.
