Overview

Located on the boundary of Kanha national park, Sherghar Tented Camp was established by a Parsi-British couple and was developed into a small camp for wildlife enthusiast and nature lovers. The camp was inaugurated in 2005 and consists of 16 members that form the helpful staff. The center of the camp consists of water reserves by two natural springs that attracts various birds like, cormorants, kingfisher and hundreds of other breeds.

The camp gives guests opportunities to enjoy and explore the natural habitat, hence activities like morning afternoon game drives, SherDarshan – viewing tigers from the elephants back, Forest and hill walks, cycle rides, visits to villages and markets and many more. Other amenities at the camp include a well stocked library with wildlife references, 6 tents internet access in the Main House, laundry services, bar, mountain bikes for free use and a souvenir shop.

    A king sized bed or twin beds

    The camp consists of 6 tents that are locally made with handmade mud tiles and have function of both shading the tents from the scorching heat and providing insulation in winters. The tents feature a large king sized bed or twin beds are available on request, attached bathroom with twin basin units and separate toilet with a shower area, plenty of luggage storage space,  and a mud finished verandah with a private sit out. 

Dining

The Main House

The in house dining area is called the Main House. The best chose chefs prepare fresh salads with vegetables from the camps own garden and local markets. Breakfast that is served is usually homemade biscuits, cakes, muesli and a few local recipes. Dinner that is prepared is traditionally cooked Indian delicacies with various breads and pickles. Continental cuisine is also prepared on request.
