Overview

Royal Heritage Tripura Castle Shillong is situated on the outskirts of Shillong. The hotel was built in 1920 by Maharaja Bir Bikram as a castle and has a lovely garden, wonderful orchards, underground bomb shelter and also a tunnel that leads to Rose garden. This castle was converted into hotel in the year 2003 and is also the first Heritage Hotel of Shillong. The hotel has a lovely interiors and an excellent collection of art work as well as antiques. The hotel offers four kinds of accommodation to its guests namely Maharaja Suite, Superior Rooms, Supreme Rooms and Deluxe Rooms. To cater to the needs of the guests, the hotel has a tea lounge, multi-cuisine restaurant, a café and a bar to relax. The hotel also has a beautiful garden, games room and a large library. The hotel has a Manikya Hall which is used for conferences and also fully equipped business centre for corporate travelers. From the rooms, the guests can have a wonderful view of the snow capped mountains in the winter and in the night lights of Shillong make it a lovely view. Maharaja Suite
This suite is special as it is here that the India’s first Nobel laureate, Poet Rabindranath Tagore stayed and he also had a close association with Manikya dynasty for four generations. The carved mahogany bed which he used is still used for the guests. The room also provides wonderful view of the surroundings. This is a multi-cuisine restaurant that serves round the clock. The main menu of the restaurant is Chinese however Indian and Continental cuisines are also served. Of course, don’t forget to try the local authentic Khasi cuisine. Some of the must try delicacies are jadoh (a rice dish), dohkhlieh (a spicy pork salad) and tungtap (dried fish chutney). All the food served is exotic and exquisite and will be a feast to your palate. The restaurant offers in room dining as well as dine in facilities. It is also opened to outside guests.

Café Shillong

It is a new dining hall with the interiors depicting local art as well as how Shillong evolved. The restaurant serves a wide variety of local delicacies.
