Located at a distance of around 6 km southwards of Langza, on the way to route to Komic, the tiny hamlet of Hikkim is known for being the home of the highest post office in the world. This little hamlet is lying at an altitude of 4440 m (14567 feet) above sea level (listed in the Limca Book of Records). At first glance, you might mistake Hikkim for being an extension of Langza or Komic, as this village is bowl-shaped and equally tranquil.

As you reach the village, this lovely place simply mesmerizes you with its beauty. Enjoy a leisure walk here, soaking in the serenity. The Hikkim, Spiti valley houses are made of stones and mud with white-colored walls. The houses are in groups, closely placed, right below the road. The path towards these houses is a steep 65 degrees road. Prayer flags fluttering near the houses are a pointer toward the presence of Buddhism in the village.

Located at the far end, the monastery in the village overlooks the place. But, like Komic and Langza, Hikkim also is rich in fossil life from the Indian Ocean before the mighty Himalayas came into being. So, if you look properly, you might even spot a few! And yes, do not forget to visit the Hikkim post office.

Accommodation in Hikkim is limited, with few basic homes stays offering just a mattress, though they provide all three meals and are clean. Therefore, if you wish to spend some memorable days away from the hustle-bustle of city life, this is the place to be. However, the area remains cut off from the civilization during the winter months due to snowfall.

You can contact us to know more details about this region. Moreover, you can include this place on your Spiti Valley tour packages.
