Two stories revolve around the origin of this beautiful waterfall. The one-story says that its name Chadwick is a combination of Two words; Chidku and Jhaar. Chidku means sparrow, and Jhaar means waterfall in the local language. The reason behind this name was that local people had the assumption that only sparrows could reach the top of the waterfall and not humans.

This concept gives the waterfall name of Chidku Jhaar, but Britishers found it challenging to pronounce, so they called this waterfall Chadwick. Some people say that scientist Chadwick committed suicide here, and therefore it is called Chadwick Falls.
