These handmade prints look stunning and offer a classic look. Safas (turbans), saris odhnis, lehanga choli, dupatta (ladies traditional garments) and mantles are amongst the many clothing types on hand in Jaipur. These traditional fabrics have even become a trend for fashion designers worldwide. The Bandhani and Leheria are two tie-and-dye methods which are popular in Jaipur. For Bandhani, the fabric is tied into minute knots to form a design and then dipped into the dye. The fabrics are tied into small knots using threads and are dipped into an array of beautiful colors. After dyeing these knotted parts remain uncolored creating different designs and patterns.
The popular patterns are mothda, the chequered design, lahariya, the diagonal strips, shakari, the human and animal figures and ekdali, the design of small circles and squares. The main colors used in Bandhani are yellow, green, red and black. The fabric is skillfully knotted by the women, while the portfolio of dyeing rests with the men.
