Difficult to believe but true!
In order to attract tourists, the Uttarakhand state government has come up with a new incentive-based scheme in September, 2020. Now, you have another reason to travel to Uttarakhand.
Uttarakhand Tourism Minister Satpal Maharaj said, “Tourists will be given the discount coupon upon registering themselves on the government portal under tourist category. Then they will use the coupon during their stay in a hotel or homestay in Uttarakhand.”
Under this project, the tourists will get INR 1000 ‘Tourist Intensive Coupon’ for their accommodation. It will be applicable to the tourists who make online bookings for a three-day stay in a hotel or homestay in Uttarakhand. Undoubtedly, this is the perfect opportunity for travellers to explore the majestic beauty of the hill stations of Uttarakhand.
The Uttarakhand tourism department follows the footsteps of Japan and European countries – Sicily and Cyprus that recently introduced intensive-based schemes to attract tourists in large numbers. Uttarakhand Tourist Development Board (UTDB) will be implementing the initiative of the state government of providing a 25% discount under ‘Tourist Incentive Coupons’. The tourism department took this step to improve the condition of tourism in the Himalayan state as tourism is one of the major sources of its revenue.
Under the guidance of the COVID Special Task Force (STF), the scheme will be tested for one month and maybe further extended based on successful results.
