Indian Railways has launched a new Tiger trial, the Tiger Express. After successfully taking travelers on heritage, pilgrimage and desert circuit package tours, now it is time to embark on the tiger trail.
Indian railways launches semi-luxury train “Tiger Express”. The train services begin on June 5, World Environment Day, at Delhi’s Safdarjung railway station. “Tiger Express,” a collaboration between the Railways and Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) offers journey to the tiger reserves in Madhya Pradesh.
This is the first time that Indian Railways will operate a tour package on the wildlife circuit. Apart from luxury trains like Maharaja’s Express, the IRCTC also offers tours packages on the desert circuit, Buddhist circuit, Mahaparinirvan Express, Bharat Darshan, etc.
Madhya Pradesh is one of the blessed regions in India. Wildlife thrives in the state and the rising number of Tigers is proof. The five-night-six-day Tiger express tour will cover Bandhavgarh and Kanha National Parks in Madhya Pradesh, apart from a stop at Dhuadhar Falls of Bhedaghat, Jabalpur.

Whereas the Bandhavgarh National Park is renowned for its tiger sighting opportunities which is considered highest in India; Kanha National Park is famed around the globe for its connection with the Jungle Book, Rudyard’s Kipling famous book which was recently turned into a blockbuster Hollywood flick.
The “Tiger Express” offers first and second AC accommodations, with fare starting from Rs.38, 500. The fare is inclusive of train ticket, local AC transport, accommodation and food.
IRCTC spokesperson Sandip Dutta stated, “The tour will also include two tiger safaris at Kanha National Park and one at Bandhavgarh, apart from accommodation at three-star hotels. The tour prices are affordable keeping in mind the services provided and there are no hidden charges.”
