2. Pushkar Lake

When I was there, I focused on capturing the essence of the place, the locals performing their rituals, the colour-changing sky, and the stillness of the lake. Each frame showcases the fusion of culture and nature.

3. Thar Desert, Jaisalmer

I mean, it’s simply surreal!

The way sunlight and sand create a dreamlike ambience that’s nothing short of mesmerising. But here, the entire credit goes to Sameer for arranging a camel ride to a secluded dune, where I got one of the best shots of a camel silhouette against the rising sun.

1. Mehrangarh Fort, Jodhpur

The towering Mehrangarh Fort stands like a sentinel over the Blue City. Under the midday sun, the vibrant blue houses pop against the fort’s earthy tones. Head to the fort’s terrace for sweeping cityscapes, and don’t forget to capture the play of shadows within the fort’s courtyards.

2. Chand Baori, Abhaneri

The geometric precision of this ancient stepwell is awe-inspiring. The sharp contrast of light and shadow during midday accentuates the intricate patterns of its steps, making for dramatic compositions.

3. Jaipur and Jodhpur Bazaars

The bazaars come alive in the bright sunlight, with vivid textiles, glittering jewelry, and aromatic spices creating a sensory overload. I found that chatting with local vendors (with my guide translating) not only got me better shots but also fascinating stories behind the goods.

As the day winds down, every evening offers a new opportunity to capture each beauty of the landscape.

1. Sam Sand Dunes, Jaisalmer

The dunes at sunset are a canvas of golden hues. I captured some incredible silhouettes of camel caravans against the sinking sun. Indian Holiday recommended the perfect dune to avoid the crowds, ensuring my shots were serene and undisturbed.

2. Lake Pichola, Udaipur

The reflection of the City Palace and Jag Mandir in the lake during sunset is postcard-perfect. My guide arranged a rooftop spot where I enjoyed a cup of masala chai while capturing the fading light over the city.

The sun setting behind the Aravalli Hills from Kumbhalgarh Fort is a sight to behold. The layered hills create a dramatic depth, ideal for landscape shots.

Thar Desert: Rajasthan’s minimal light pollution makes the Thar Desert an ideal location for astrophotography. During a stargazing camp arranged by Sameer, I was lucky enough to capture the Milky Way gracefully arching over the dunes. Trust me, it was one of the most magical nights of my entire trip.
