Good news for tourists planning to visit Shimla soon! The popular Kalka-Shimla Rail is all set to flaunt its new look. In order to treat passengers with unmatched experiences, Indian Railways has added a Europe-like Vistadome coach to the Kalka-Shimla train. It is expected that the major step will help curate amazing winter holidays in India, especially in the hills. Sharing a post on Facebook, Mr. Piyush Goyal, Railway Minister informed that the train ran its first trial trip recently.
He also informed that with the introduction of the Vistadome coach which is similar to the glass ceiling coaches in European trains, passengers can now admire the panoramic views. Also, the travelers will be able to soak in the aesthetic landscape with a better vision through a glass-roof coach. Additionally, the glass roof has also upgraded windows and a conditioning system. The coach CT-15 is one of its kind and is named Nihaar.
Now, the passengers will not only be able to soak in the awe-inspiring outside views but can also have a glimpse of the narrow-gauge Kalka-Shimla rail section, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is interesting to note that last month, Hop-On-Hop-Off services by the national transporter in all train services started operating on the Kalka-Shimla narrow gauge railway section.
Ambala division which falls under the Northern Zonal Railway has come up with the new service. This offers a memorable ride to passengers traveling over the popular heritage railway section.
The new feature also facilitates passengers to marvel at all the tourist attractions with the purchase of just a single ticket. Travelers can purchase tickets from any railway station in the Kalka-Shimla rail section.
Fares
For one day, the ticket fare is INR 500 while for two days, it will cost INR 800. Passengers wishing to travel for three days have to pay INR 1000. For children (5 to 12 years), the ticket will cost INR 250, 400, and 500 for one, two, and three days respectively.
Seating Capacity
The new coach comes with a seating capacity of 36 persons.
Other Features
Not only this, passengers can avail benefits of other features like LED lights, cushioned wooden interiors, and window blinds.
On a trial basis, the Indian Railways is also planning to revamp three coaches of the Shivalik Deluxe Express. Depending upon the response, other coaches on the train will also be revamped soon. Keeping all things in mind, it can now be rest assured that passengers are now going to cherish a memorable sojourn to Shimla.
