Great news for all international travelers planning their tours to India as Government of India extends e- tourist visa to 36 more countries. Last year on 27th November 2014, Government of India launched e-Tourist Visa facility. This year, Government of India has extended its e-Tourist Visa scheme to 36 more Countries/Territories from 15th August 2015. Also, from the same date, 7 more Airports will be designated for entry on e-tourist visa.
Earlier, the scheme was extended to only passport holders of 77 Countries/Territories for entry at nine Indian Airports that were designated for providing e-Tourist visa service.
The new Countries/Territories that have been added to the e-Tourist Visa scheme are Andorra, Argentina, Armenia, Aruba, Belgium, Bolivia, Colombia, Cuba, East Timor, Guatemala, Hungary, Ireland, Jamaica, Malta, Malaysia, Mongolia, Monaco, Mozambique, Netherlands, Panama, Peru, Poland, Portugal, Seychelles, Slovenia, Spain, St Lucia, St Vincent & the Grenadines, Suriname, Sweden, Taiwan, Tanzania, Turks & Caicos Island, United Kingdom, Uruguay and Venezuela.
With this addition, the total number of Countries/Territories under the scheme will become 113 (One hundred Thirteen). Along with this addition, 7 Indian Airports will be designated for entry on e-Tourist Visa from 15th August2015. New Airports will include Ahmedabad, Amritsar, Gaya, Jaipur, Lucknow, Trichy and Varanasi. This will increase the total number of Designated Airports to 16.
From the day of the launch of the scheme last year, more than 200000 (Two lac) e-tourist visas have been issued till date. The step of increasing the number of countries and airports is expected to substantially boost the tourism industry of the country.
