Built using colossal stone slabs, this megalithic bridge across Um-Kumbeh River is said to be constructed by Mar Phalangki and U Luh Lyngskor Lamare as per the local tradition.

Nartiang Monoliths in Meghalaya’s Jaintia Hills are considered among some of the tallest in the world. These were built to honor the erstwhile Jaintia Kings and consist of Menhirs or Moo Shynrang and Dolmens or Moo Kynthai.
As per the local legends, the tallest of these monoliths, known locally as Moo Long Syiem stands 26 feet. It was erected between 1500 CE to 1835 CE by the famous war leader U Mar Phalynki to mark a momentous military achievement.

This memorial is among the famous monuments of Meghalaya and is dedicated to the local tribe known as U-Maw Thodur-Briew.
Built of large megalithic stone, the stones are classified as menhirs (vertical stones), dolmens (horizontal stones), and cairn, with menhirs usually the most gigantic in size.
It can be observed that menhirs are erected generally in rows of three, four, five, and seven, with each measuring approximately 9 meters in height and the central one the highest of them all. A capstone appearing like a head or head is occasionally provided over menhirs.

David Scott’s Monument, Cherrapunji

The memorial pillar in Cherrapunji commemorates David Scott, an agent to the Governor-General on the North-East Frontier during the British period. He was considered one of the most dedicated, sincere, and clever workers.
Today the David Scott Trail is one of the most popular trekking trails in Meghalaya. It stretches over 100 kilometers, including places in Meghalaya, Assam, and Bangladesh.

David Scott died on the 20th of August 1831 at 45 years. His memorial is in the shape of an obelisk constructed entirely of ashlar stone masonry raised over a square platform. An inscription is engraved on the memorial pillar.
