The primary aim will lure these foreign buyers into purchasing Assamese Tea. Of late, the Dubai Tea Festival has gained immense popularity and attracted foreign buyers. The Tea Fair in Guwahati intends to divert them towards themselves and thereby establish Assam as one of the primary tea hubs in the whole world.
While the Tea Fair would be held in Guwahati, simultaneously another small event would also be celebrated at the Toklai Tea Research Center in Jorhat, which is the oldest tea research center globally.
Tea has indeed given Assam a unique place on the world map. We can only hope and pray that such endeavors emerge as a phenomenal success and become one of the most important Trade Shows in Assam, highlighting what Assam’s most precious product is. In this context, it can be mentioned that an attempt is also being taken to grant Geographical Indication to Assam Orthodox Tea. If successful, this will enable the better promotion of this prime event.
